My Hero Academia is one of the most popular superhero IPs, easily challenging industry giants like Marvel and DC. Both the manga and anime series have attracted countless fans, making the franchise one of the most popular in the shōnen demographic. Moreover, the story itself has brought a breath of fresh air to the superhero genre, not only striking the right balance between lightheartedness and action, satire and serious moments, but also making fans fall in love with its characters full of emotional depth, kitsch and drama.
And while the popularity of the MHA series has waned somewhat in recent years as fans began to criticize Studio Bones for the deteriorating quality of the animation and pacing, the ongoing Season 7 has brought the anime back to its former vibrant interest. The production has improved by leaps and bounds, and the story, which is slowly coming to an end, has taken an incredibly dark turn, keeping viewers glued to their screens.
In particular, the last episode released shocked with a sudden plot twist, as one of the most popular characters, Katsuki Bakugo, seemed to have been mortally wounded. This left fans incredibly shocked, but it's too early to write his obituary, dear friends!

The Last Episode of MHA Featured a Shocking Death Scene
Though the character wasn't everyone's favorite at first due to his behavior towards Deku, Katsuki Bakugo quickly won the hearts of MHA fans and has consistently been number one in the popularity poll for the past eight years. So it's no surprise that viewers are incredibly concerned about his fate.
In the eleventh episode of Season 7, titled 'Light Fades To Rain', Bakugo continued to fight face-to-face with Tomura Shigaraki, seemingly overpowering a villain. In the heat of battle, however, he ignored the fact that his body was exhausted, causing the teenager to miss a punch from Shigaraki, whose kick landed right in his heart in front of the horrified Pro-Heroes. Visions of All Might flashed before Bakugo's eyes at that moment. Unfortunately, in reality, the breathless body of the series' deuteragonist lay on the rain-soaked ground in front of his devastated allies.
This episode was undoubtedly one of the most powerful episodes in the history of My Hero Academia. The high level of animation and the incredible drama of the events shocked the viewers. But no matter how significant Bakugo's death is to the story, fans still hope that he survived.
But Did Bakugo Really Die?
Unfortunately, as we saw with the tragic loss of Midnight in the Paranormal Liberation War arc, neither villains nor heroes are truly invincible, and so many fear that Bakugo has become another unfortunate victim of One for All's sinister ambitions. However, Katsuki Bakugo will not die.
According to the manga, Bakugo will escape a tragic death as he is saved in time by Edgeshot, who sews up the teenager's torn heart wound. However, the injuries he sustained during the battle will stay with him forever. His broken arm will never fully recover, and his face will be scarred. But Bakugo will not give up his work as a professional superhero and will continue to serve as a guardian of humanity.
