Nostalgia Strikes With This Line-up of Old Openings Prepared to Be Played at KyoAni Music Fest

It brings back the feels.

Summary:

  • Kyoto Animation will hold KyoAni Music Festival on November 11 and 12.
  • They released a video summary of what openings and endings will be featured in this year's show.
  • This year it will be available for overseas streaming.

The annual KyoAni Music Festival strikes on November 11th and 12th, and prior to that the animation studio decided to release a video of a line-up that includes some of the openings and endings that will be performed at the show.

The festival celebrates Kyoto Animation's vast music catalog that brought us, the viewers, so many emotions as we watched their shows. Some of the tracks became memes, while others just got ingrained in our hearts and souls, and we carried them with us for years. And this video that features tracks from all the hit shows of the studio, and even some more obscure ones, is a true trip down memory lane.

The nearly 40-minute long film includes openings and endings from Sora wo Miageru Shoujo no Hitomi ni Utsuru Sekai, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, Air, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu), Kanon, Clannad, Nichijou, Free!, Beyond the Boundary (Kyoukai no Kanata), Sound! Euphonium (Hibike! Euphonium), Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid (Kobayashi-san Chi no Maid Dragon), Violet Evergarden, and Tsurune. The arrangements of the tracks on the festival will be different, but the vibe will stay the same.

The theme of this year's performance is "Exciting Miracle", and the stage will be graced by voice actors and actresses Mai Aizawa, Aya Hirano (with ENOZ), Minori Chihara, Mikuni Shimokawa, the SOS Brigade, Ayana, Ding, Tatsuya Kato, and others who played iconic characters in KyoAni shows. They will perform the theme songs and recreate some scenes. You can watch last year's performance to get the idea of what KyoAni Music Festival is — there's a whole playlist on the studio's official YouTube Channel.

It will be the sixth festival that will take place at ROHM Theater with the live viewings in 80 theaters across Japan, but this year the overseas fans also can enjoy it as it will be available for streaming in 20 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and others. Tickets are available on the official site. And you'll be able to watch the stream up until November 26th.
