Ninja Kamui is an upcoming original anime by the director of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1. The series is set to premiere in the United States on Adult Swim's Toonami programming block on February 10, and on Max on the following day, February 11.
The story will follow an ex-ninja, Joe Higan, who left his organization to lead a calm and quiet life with his family. Only for the said organization to come back and murder Joe’s family as a way of punishing him for his betrayal.
All of that, of course, serves as the beginning of a new revenge story with Joe following in John Wick’s footsteps and hunting the assassins.
The first trailer for the series was released back in July 2023, and fans have been puzzled by the complete lack of updates ever since. With the premiere just around the corner, the expectations are to see more and more fresh details each week. And last week was a present we all wanted: we got a new trailer.
New trailer is interesting
The thing fans point out the most after watching the Ninja Kamui trailer is the series’ spectacular action. We’ll definitely have plenty of it as the setting, the premise and Joe’s story tell us, and it’s nice to know that this part will be well-made.
Despite the main plot of the anime being kind of generic and something like we’ve seen plenty of, the action is what makes it stand out. After all, we’re in it for the show, and Ninja Kamui feels exciting to spectate.
What’s interesting about the trailer is that it’s in English, and sub lovers have already become anxious about that. But there’s no need to worry, as the series will premiere on Toonami in both English dubbed and subtitled formats.

Another peculiar detail about the trailer is that the character designs have been changed, compared to what we saw in the first trailer in July. The main protagonist and his family have undergone some changes, and while the wife and kid still look similar apart from their hair color, the main protagonist is completely different.
There’s also an idea that it’s just a clever trick because we can see the blonde protagonist from the first trailer in the second one as well. It could just be a mistake or a hint that the story will not be that simple, and the blonde guy wasn’t actually the lead of the show.
