The backgrounds are worse than they were in the original series
Now, the original Spice and Wolf wasn't the best-looking anime ever. It was praised for its direction and amazing background art. While the director of the original series is still involved in the remake, he seems to hold the position of chief director — meaning he is less involved in the production than he was with the old series.
We can't really say much about the direction in the new PV — after all, it's just snippets from the anime. However, what we have seen from it already, they aren't even close to the detailed background art from the old one. Naturally, it upsets older fans — and they have the right to be upset.
The art isn't perfect either
Another thing that people have brought up is the use of colors and character redesigns — as well as the art in general. The new series looks way too bright, and the excessive use of filters does it more harm than good.
