Fans want to see a full-fledged arc dedicated to B-Komachi 2.0!
Oshi No Ko spoilers ahead!
Summary:
Fans didn't get enough idols in the first season.
There are only three episodes dedicated to B-Komachi 2.0.
The creators don't seem to be interested in a full-fledged arc about idols.
Oshi No Ko is one of the most impressive titles of 2023. First of all, it is remembered for its expectation-shattering first episode. But there were other memorable elements as well. For example, the entertainment industry and its major problems were well depicted. Even though the idols are the most remembered part of this title, there are those who didn't get enough of them in the first season. In 2024, the second season will be released and it seems that this problem will not be solved.
Rich in plot (but not idols)
Oshi No Ko begins with the story of young idol Ai Hoshino, the leader of the B-Komachi band. Despite the industry's ban on romantic relationships, Ai is pregnant and goes to a provincial clinic so that no one will recognize her. The local doctor, however, turns out to be her fan. But when he realizes the whole situation, he hides it and agrees to help the girl.
It seems that this story is not surprising, but everything turns upside down. The doctor is killed by Ai's stalker and reborn in her child's body. By the way, he has a twin sister. She turns out to be the doctor's friend, who once made him interested in idols, but died of illness.
There are many twists in this anime. After Ai's babies are born, it seems like a happy second chance story (the doctor and the sick girl weren't satisfied with their previous lives). But a few years after the birth, Ai is killed and Aqua and Ruby's happy life ends. The children grow up. Ruby becomes obsessed with the dream of becoming an idol like a mother, and Aqua becomes passionate about finding the person responsible for her death.
Where is B-Komachi 2.0?
The idol theme doesn't die with Ai, but it becomes much less prominent. Ruby becomes the only guide to this realm, but her dream is given little time in the first season. The focus is mostly on Aqua's acting career and his search for the culprit. In fact, there are only three episodes dedicated to the B-Komachi 2.0 idol group that Ruby put together following her dream. They focus on the formation of the new lineup, consisting of Ruby, Kana, and Mem-Cho, and their first performance. Although the idol industry theme is crucial to the series, it is barely explored in the first season.
Recently, Oshi No Ko Season 2 was announced and it will be released next year. From the poster it is clear that it will be dedicated to the 5D Stage Play events, in which there is also no place for Ruby's group. The creators don't seem to be interested in a full-fledged arc dedicated to the idols. There isn't even such an arc in the manga. We probably won’t see much B-Komachi 2.0 in the near future. Though many think their appearance would only improve the story.
