Eevee is basically Pikachu’s rival, except better in nearly every way.
Official Pokemon games are holding Eevee Day events.
We NEED to receive a new Eeveelution in the next mainline game.
Every Pokemon is someone’s favorite. Yes, even ones as silly as Vaniluxe, or as ugly as Bruxish — maybe they have just a couple of fans across the globe, but they have fans nonetheless. Still, some Pokemon are undisputed crowd favorites. Lucario and Mewtwo are always near the top of the charts due to how cool they are, and the original starter trio — Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle — have been popular since the very first day. There’s Pikachu — following its success and popularity in the original anime, it became the series’ mascot, spawning obligatory Pikachu clones in every generation (our favorite is Mimikyu, of course!). And then, there’s Pikachu’s main rival, the adorable Cat/Dog/Fennec hybrid, Eevee.
Why Eevee Day?
Just like May the 4th is known as a Star Wars Day due to a silly pun, November 21st (if written as “1121”) could be read as “Eevee”. That is, the Evolution Pokemon, introduced in the very first Generation of the franchise.
Eevee has two things going for it. First — it’s an absolutely adorable, yet grounded Pokemon that wouldn’t look out of place in your own house — scientists and breeders could easily engineer a real life Eevee out of cats or dogs within a decade. Second — true to its title of Evolution Pokemon, Eevee has an unprecedented amount of possible evolutions (which is something a possible real life adorable scientific abomination would probably lack).
Every Eeveelution has something to offer. Flareon looks extremely warm and fluffy, Jolteon is cool and dependable, Espeon and Umbreon are mysterious, Vaporeon and Leafeon are friend-shaped, and Glaceon and Sylveon are graceful and beautiful. And you could have a balanced and powerful Pokemon party made up entirely of Eeveelutions — which is something Pikachu and its countless (mostly kinda boring (not you, Mimikyu)) clones could not even hope to offer!
Yes Eevee Day!
Eevee has been celebrated worldwide on November 21th since 2018, making this the 5th anniversary of Eevee Day. And of course, as a part of it, currently supported official Pokemon games introduced Eevee themed events.
In Pokemon Masters EX, multiple limited duos of Trainers and their Eevees are currently available, including Penny and Silveon from Scarlet and Violet and Elaine and Eevee from Pokemon: Let’s Go, Eevee. In Pokemon GO, Eevee Day is celebrated by increased spawn rates, as well as granting caught/evolved Eevees powerful, limited special moves. In Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, there’s also an outbreak of Eevees, featuring these adorable Pokemon with rare Marks — there are even Tera raid battles with Mightiest Mark Hidden Ability Eevees!
And on a note related to mainline games, National Pokedex currently ends on #1017 (Ogerpon). #1121 will happen in the next mainline game, and it NEEDS to be a new Eeveelution, or we riot. We hope for a Dragon, Bug or Ghost Type, to be honest — but any new Eeveelution would be great. It’s been 10 years since the addition of Sylveon, and the bestest Dog/Cat/Fennec DESERVES a new form!
Celebrating the bestest Dog/Cat/Fennec hybrid.
