- Fans think it has something to do with production issues.
Solo Leveling (Ore dake Level Up na Ken) Episode 12 is going to air on March 30, 2024, and since the second cour hasn’t been announced yet, there’s a big chance that this will be the season finale.
Too many animation directors
The staff working on the final episode has been revealed, and fans have noticed a big number of animation directors for the episode (there are 19 of them), which really attracted their attention.
This number of animation directors makes fans wonder if it has something to do with production issues. It usually doesn’t take that many people to finish one episode, so there must be something going on.
The quality of the anime adaptation has been very high so far, and the final episode is going to be the key one, so no one wants anything to spoil it.
Solo Leveling went on a small break between Episodes 7 and 8 previously, and fans were worried about the production back then, but it turned out that there was nothing to worry about: all of the episodes looked incredible. Moreover, each new episode is better than the previous one.
Production issues?
Fans are sure that A-1 Pictures knows what they’re doing, it’s not one of the studios notorious for crunch. Perhaps there really are some issues, so they had to call for more animation directors to fix them.
One of the speculations is that the release schedule has caught up to the production staff, and they had to find a way to solve this issue. And no one wants a couple of people overworking themselves to death, that’s why such a big number of animation directors are involved in the adaptation.
This situation is indeed unusual, but there are no doubts: it won’t impact the quality of the final episode, so you don’t need to worry about it. The Solo Leveling production team has proved themselves to the viewers, and we’re confident they are going to do this once again in Episode 12.
However, if the studio is indeed experiencing some production and schedule issues, this might affect the future of the series. Fans were previously sure that Season 1 will have two cours, but there are still no announcements. If the second cour was really the plan, the production issues might impact its release date a lot.
That’s why we’ll probably have to wait for more time until we get any new Solo Leveling adaptation announcements. But fans prefer it this way: it’s better to get a great anime but a bit later than to get a poor quality series right now.
