New Interpretation of Grimm's Fairy Tales
As you might have guessed from the name of the anime, the series is a new take on Grimm's fairy tales. Each episode is a fresh interpretation of a beloved story: Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Town Musicians of Bremen, and Pied Piper of Hamelin.
But don’t expect the Disney charm of the Grimm Variations, the anime will stick to the original horrifying vibe of the fairy tales instead of providing a cute and romantic adventure.
The episodes are longer than usual, each about 40 minutes long, so it will take you some more time to finish the series than you might expect. But since Netflix released all the episodes at once, it’s perfect for binge-watching.

It’ll be better if you’ve seen at least a couple of the tales retold in the Grimm Variations. And it’ll be best if you’ve seen them all because this way you’ll have an idea of what the story is supposed to be like and who to root for.
