This overpowered girl can create dark magic black holes!
Summary:
Villainess Level 99 is an overpowered otome isekai story.
Eumiella Dolkness has the potential to become one of the most beloved (or memetic) isekai protagonists.
The series starts in January 2024.
It’s wonderful to see more and more anime adaptations of otome isekai — you know, stories like My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom! (Otome Game no Hametsu Flag shika Nai Akuyaku Reijou ni Tensei shiteshimatta…), The Saint's Magic Power is Omnipotent (Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou desu) and Why Raeliana Ended up at the Duke's Mansion (Kanojo ga Koushaku-tei ni Itta Riyuu).
We still hope for anime adaptations of the Accomplishments of the Duke's Daughter (Koushaku Reijou no Tashinami), May I Ask For One Final Thing? (Saigo ni Hitotsu dake Onegai shitemo Yoroshii deshou ka) and the Golden Haired Elementalist (just like Raeliana and Solo Leveling, it’s a manhwa — Geumbarui Jeongnyeongsa), though there’s something just as fantastic coming this Winter season, and it includes a level 99 villainess:
Villainess Level 99: I May Be the Hidden Boss But I'm Not the Demon Lord (Akuyaku Reijou Level 99: Watashi wa Ura-Boss desu ga Maou dewa Arimasen) is a story about a girl named Eumiella Dolkness — who at the age of five, remembers her past life in Japan, and realizes she’s the hidden boss in an otome game. Being familiar with a plot, she decides to avoid spotlight, forfeit any notions of romance, and go through hellish training to become as strong as possible, so she could avoid being killed at the end of the story.
One issue. At the start of her time at the magic academy featured in the game, it’s revealed that Eumiella overtrained just a little bit — and reached Level 99, making her the strongest person in all kingdoms and yeah, putting the spotlight right at her. Another issue — Eumiella has jet black hair from birth, which is seen as a bad omen in the kingdom. Oh, and one more issue — Eumiella is about as expressive and socially aware as a girl-shaped brick, which means we’re going to be treated to a story of comedic miscommunications featuring a ridiculously overpowered protagonist overcoming more social obstacles than physical (or magical) ones.
The production
Aside from the trailer, the anime had already released PV of several characters, including Eumiella herself, as well as Edwin Valschein and William Ares — two of the love interests from the original game (also known as this story’s stooges).
This anime is created by studio Jumondo, known for Don't Hurt Me, My Healer! (Kono Healer, Mendokusai), I Shall Survive Using Potions! (Potion-danomi de Ikinobimasu!) and Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer (Hoshi no Samidare). And given the strength of the source material, we have high hopes for this adaptation.
Villainess Level 99 will begin airing during the Winter 2024 season. Join us watching it in January when the first episodes drop!
