We Need a Fire Punch Anime (Just Maybe Not by MAPPA)

This series needs more attention, too!

Summary:

  • Fire Punch is a manga by the author of Chainsaw Man.
  • It revolves around Agni, who possesses superhuman regeneration.
  • It would be incredible to see Fire Punch animated, but it won’t be an easy task.

Fire Punch is a manga series written and illustrated by Tatsuki Fujimoto, who’s also the author of Chainsaw Man. If you’ve ever read any of his works, you know by now that this man is something special; some might even call him insane, and we have to agree that his stories can really drive you to this conclusion. However, crazy equals genius, right?

We’ve recently mentioned that MAPPA wants to animate other series written by Fujimoto, and while this animation studio choice might not be the best one due to the huge crunch and horrible working conditions, we do believe that Fire Punch needs an anime adaptation.

Not a typical superhero story

Fire Punch explores the world that’s been frozen for ages by the Ice Witch. In this world, there are people who possess superhuman abilities known as “blessings”. The main protagonist, Agni, is one of these people, and his power is regeneration. But he’s no typical superhero, he doesn’t use this power to save the world. He keeps having his limbs cut off to feed his village. We don’t want to spoil the rest of the exposition to you, but trust us, the story is only getting crazier with each chapter.

Dark, deep and depressing

A series with a premise like that is not going to be an easy task to animate, that’s for sure. It’s an incredibly dark, depressing and traumatic story. Fire Punch has a lot of blood, gore and violence, so it’s obvious that no matter which studio is brave enough to take up this project, they have to be careful. This manga also touches upon various uncomfortable topics, which will make it even more difficult to adapt. But we’re all adults, and we can handle it.

Fire Punch is also an incredibly deep experience. It makes you feel and think. You’ll get horrified and repulsed while reading it, but it will not leave you indifferent. And this is what good stories are supposed to be like. Not repulsive, that is, but thought-provoking.

That’s why seeing it animated is a dream for so many manga readers. If the manga can make you feel all sorts of ways, then imagine what this series will be capable of if you add incredible animation and a heart-wrenching soundtrack into the mixture.

We have to warn you, though, that it's not everyone’s cup of tea. After all, don’t forget that it’s a manga by the author of Chainsaw Man. Fire Punch can get even darker and weirder at times. But if you’re willing to risk and usually enjoy sinister vibes, you should give it a try, and we’re sure you’ll join our team of those who hope to ever see Fire Punch animated.
