Summary:
- Whisper Me a Love Song is a new yuri anime series.
- It follows a female singer and her enthusiastic fan.
- Episode 1 made fans very relieved.
Whisper Me a Love Song (Sasayaku You ni Koi wo Utau) is a new yuri series that started airing on April 14, 2024. It is the anime adaptation of a romance manga of the same name written and illustrated by Eku Takeshima.
Misunderstanding Leads to Romance
Whisper Me a Love Song follows two girls, the eccentric and overly-enthusiastic Himari and the calm and shy Yori. And we all know that opposites make the best couples, don’t we?
Himari attends a concert where Yori sings — and it is love at first sight. She is so in love with Yori’s voice and music that she can’t keep her emotions under control. When Himari has the chance to approach Yori, she confesses her feelings to the singer.
Yori has zero experience in love, so the confession confuses her, but she decides to give Himari a chance. However, she’s about to find out that the girl is just a mere fan, and her affections didn’t involve anything romantic.
Promising Beginning
It’s fair to start the conversation about Whisper Me a Love Song with the music. Fans can understand Himari because Yori does have a magnificent voice indeed. The songs in the series are very enjoyable, and we sense a lot of “add to your playlist” going on for the fans.
The characters in the series are absolutely adorable. Himari has all the traits of a typical annoying anime character, but for some reason her behavior seems endearing and not irritating at all.
Yori is also very likable, and we’re sure a lot of younger girls can relate to her. She’s humble, polite, kind and absolutely talented. We have a feeling that the main duo will be very engaging to follow.
Fans’ Reaction
It’s not like we get a new yuri series each month, so fans were nervous about the adaptation. But Episode 1 made them sigh with relief: it looks like it’s going to be a great anime and a faithful adaptation.
There were worries about everything: the studio, the director, the animation, the music. But it turns out that fans needn’t have worried, Whisper Me a Love Song is very promising and highly enjoyable.
Fans are also excited to learn that Yori is voiced by Asami Seto, who you might know as Nobara from Jujutsu Kaisen. If she’s involved, there won’t be any issues with the voice acting, that’s for sure.
Whisper Me a Love Song is scheduled for 12 episodes, so it will be a rather short experience, but fans don’t mind. It feels like the anime will be the yuri of the season, and we can’t wait to see more.
