Wind Breaker Episode 1 Is Out: Better Than Bucchigiri?

Delinquents and fights sound like a good idea.

Summary:

  • Wind Breaker started airing on April 5.
  • The series follows a social outcast who joins the school of delinquents.
  • Fans enjoyed the first episode a lot.

Wind Breaker is a fresh action anime that started airing on April 5, 2024. And even though fans keep mentioning how the anime gives them Tokyo Revengers and Bucchigiri vibes, it seems that Episode 1 did really great.

Alone but Not Broken

Wind Breaker follows Haruka, who has been bullied and hated all his life because of his unusual appearance. His hair is naturally split into black and white, and his eyes are different colors.

Such a life has made him rather antisocial and ready for a fight any time someone gives him a reason to. And when he sees a bunch of delinquents bothering a girl, he sees the said reason and deals with them.

When another fight starts, Haruka’s new schoolmates come to assist, which surprises him to no end. How can anyone even try to help him? Perhaps this is a sign for him that if he wants to fight his way to the top, he has to have someone else around him?

Exactly What We Wanted to See

Although we sense that some significant character development might follow, since Haruka’s world is about to be turned upside down, Wind Breaker hardly looks like a thought-provoking series for now. And this is exactly what fans expected it to be.

They were craving a bunch of delinquents beating the hell out of each other, and they got what they wanted. Moreover, the fights were executed perfectly, and viewers are already in love with the combat action in the anime.

As we said, Wind Breaker cannot avoid the comparison to other combat-focused anime series, and fans instantly thought of Tokyo Revengers and Bucchigiri. And they have to admit that they actually prefer Wind Breaker, mostly because of its protagonist.

Haruka is overly aggressive, but there is something kind and genuine about him. Fans joke that he’s another example of tsundere, and it makes a lot of sense. It actually makes him look adorable.

Haruka is not a crybaby and not annoying, so it’s really interesting to follow him. He’s lived his life as an outcast, but now he’s joining the school full of outcasts, so there’s hope it’s finally time for him to fit in.

Fans were worried about Wind Breaker because they’ve been burned by delinquent series so many times before, but Episode 1 gives them a lot of hope about the anime. Perhaps it’s finally the series everyone has been waiting for so much.
