Warner Bros. Japan and WIT studio announced a new anime project based on DC Comics. The series will be called Suicide Squad ISEKAI and will feature such world famous characters as Joker and Harley Quinn.
The people behind the series
Although we don’t know much about the series yet, fans are already excited to see some familiar names. Suicide Squad is directed by Eri Osada, who’s also worked on such projects as Jujutsu Kaisen and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure. The screenplay is by Tappei Nagatsuki and Eiji Umehara, who are famous for their work on Re:Zero. WIT studio is another reason for fans’ excitement since this is the studio that brought us such anime as Spy x Family, Vinland Saga and the first three seasons of Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin). All of these names, although don’t guarantee the success of the project, give us hope that Suicide Squad will become another wonderful addition to our collection of excellent anime.

A small teaser was released along with the announcement, and it looks stunning. Harley and Joker’s character design is impressive, it fits their iconic images quite well, and it’s impossible not to feel hyped when looking at them. The teaser provides the typical for Harley and Joker mixture of madness and action and promises a great adventure.
The anime is rumored to be released in 2024, but the information hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. For now there’s no details about any other DC characters that might appear in the series, but fans are hoping to see Batman, of course, since a story including Joker is never complete without even a glimpse of this famous superhero.
The series is said to be led by Harley, that’s why she is the only one on the key visual that was released. However, we can say for sure that Joker is going to play a major role in the anime as he’s very present in the teaser and let’s just be honest, every story about Harley includes the target of her infatuation.
Fans have mixed feelings for now. They are of course excited to see these iconic characters in an anime format, but they have concerns about the show being an isekai one. The director of Suicide Squad mentions that the story will take place in both Gotham City and Isekai world, and the visual techniques will provide the contrast between these two realms.
