Eiichiro Oda’s Monsters Anime Gets a New Key Visual: Coming to Netflix January 2024

More info about the series is here.

Summary:

  • Monsters is a one-shot manga by Eiichiro Oda.
  • The anime adaptation is scheduled for January 2024.
  • A new key visual for Monsters is out.

Monsters is originally a one-shot manga by Eiichiro Oda, who’s also the author of One Piece. The anime adaptation of the manga was announced earlier this year and became a more than pleasant surprise for One Piece fans. This is the story where we meet Ryuma for the first time, after all!

Monsters begins with a story about a dragon’s horn that was stolen ten years ago. The horn was said to hold mysterious powers of controlling dragons. But little do we know that this relic is about to reappear in the present. What does it all have to do with the vicious destruction of a village by a dragon seven years ago? And what is Ryuma doing in the story? We won’t reveal all these mysteries to you now, of course, but you can read the manga or wait for the anime and find out. And the good news is that you won’t have to wait for long if you choose the second option.

We’ve already talked about the Monsters’ news here but back then nothing except for the promising “coming 2024” was known. However, the release of the anime turned out to arrive faster than expected. The new key visual reveals a more precise date and it is January 2024, and it’s coming to Netflix! January is also the month of Eiichiro Oda’s birthday. Coincidence? We think not. The happy news leaves us only one month to get ready for the premiere, and we’re sure we won’t even notice how fast the time will pass.

The visual itself looks interesting, and fans have pointed out the peculiar art style that the studio decided to go with that gives you old-school fantasy vibes. The visual portrays Ryuma, Cyrano and Flare as well as a frightening dragon breathing fire. It promises a great adventure and epic action, and this is exactly what we’re here for.

Fans say that you don’t need to have seen One Piece or learned any backstories to watch Monsters, since it was released even before the One Piece series. They’re connected of course, but Monsters was meant to be enjoyed as a standalone project. So you can relax if you haven’t watched One Piece, you don’t have to watch 1000+ episodes in one month that’s left before the Monsters premiere, and can spend this time just being excited.
