Tadaima, Okaeri is a slice-of-life and omegaverse BL anime series by Studio Deen that started airing on April 9, 2024. It follows the most adorable family of three: two husbands and their little son.
Masaki and Hiromu are happy dads of Hikari, and trust us when we say that their family is adorable: sometimes the things you see on your screen get so cute and so sweet they could give you a toothache.
Masaki is an omega, which makes him very insecure. He sometimes feels like a burden to his husband and doesn’t like other people knowing about his status. This concept was a rather big deal in Episode 1, so we expect more exploration of the relationships between alphas and omegas in the series.
The Episode Is Very Promising
Tadaima, Okaeri Episode 1 is a dream come true for all BL fans. We have a couple of men who are already married and happy together, so there won’t be any “Oh my god, am I gay?” moments and you won’t have to wait for 12+ episodes for the couple to get together.
Masaki and Hiromu are already a thing, and instead of seeing them get closer, you will experience their everyday struggles and wholesome family moments.
There are hints at possible conflicts, as characters say that society is not fully accepting of two men being married, but we hope that the series will keep the wholesome vibe for as much as possible.
The omegaverse aspect has both scared and excited fans at the same time. It’s a pretty wild decision to adapt a series like that, so viewers are shocked by the courage.
Still, the omegaverse is often associated with something sexual because of all the fanfiction, so there are worries that Tadaima, Okaeri might become inappropriate or even problematic in the future. But don’t worry, there haven’t been any hints at that.
Direction and Cast
The direction of Episode 1 was good. The character design and animation are a bit outdated, but the anime is still very enjoyable to watch.
The voice acting is incredible, and you may be very happy to learn that Masaki and Hiromu’s son is voiced by Atsumi Tanezaki, who you may know as Anya (Spy x Family) or Frieren (Frieren: Beyond Journey's End). Yes, she’s perfect in every role!
Fans are excited for more episodes of Tadaima, Okaeri and hope that the series will remain this absolutely adorable cuteness up until the end. It’s very exciting to have a slice-of-life BL family anime, and we hope it won’t disappoint anyone.
