The Public School Arc anime adaptation of Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) was announced back in July 2023, followed by a small teaser in September and a couple of visuals after that.
The reveal of character posters on Ciel’s birthday in December also set the premiere date for the upcoming anime to April 2024, which means we only have three months before the premiere.
Fans need more updates
Despite three months being quite a long period of time, it’s still not much, if we really think about it. That’s why it’s natural to wonder where we’ll get more updates about the Public School Arc anime and when we’ll finally know the exact release date.
It’s not that CloverWorks has been giving us nothing, but with a series like Black Butler you’d expect more information, details and hype. There’s a reason why Black Butler is back after all these years, after all.
New trailer at AnimeJapan 2024?
It was recently announced that Public School Arc will be featured on the AnimeJapan 2024 Red Stage on March 24, 2024. Daisuke Ono, the voice actor of Sebastian, will also be attending the event.
This news has Black Butler fans super excited, of course! We can only see one reason for including Black Butler in the event, and that is to reveal new information about the upcoming adaptation.
There is a high possibility that a proper trailer will be revealed then because March 24 is extremely close to April, and even if the release date is set somewhere at the end of the month, the March event will still be just a month away from the premiere.
Still, March 24 is far from now, too. And fans have already waited long enough, so they naturally want more updates before AnimeJapan 2024. We highly doubt that there will be a full trailer before the event, but a tiny teaser is all we can ask for.
Nevertheless, fans are hyped for the upcoming adaptation. They’ve been waiting for 10 years since Season 3 finished airing, and 7 years since the last time they saw any Black Butler anime, which was the Book of the Atlantic movie.
So right now we’ll just try to stay as patient as we can and wait for CloverWorks to reveal any new information about the anime sequel.
